There are a lot of things to feel anxious about this November. Christmas is just around the corner; have you started shopping yet? Just imagine how long the lines at the mall are going to be. You have to stress about shopping and cooking for Thanksgiving.
Ahh, Thanksgiving. Is that a stressful time at your household? It often is because you’ll likely be spending time with your in-laws and a lot of people you haven’t seen in a long time. Plus just how are you going to pull off cooking for everyone?
To be certain, the holidays are a truly joyous time. But they can also be stressful and make you feel anxious. But there’s one place you can go to relieve your anxiety this November and the location may surprise you: Plymouth Dentistry in Plymouth, MI. A relaxing trip to the dentist’s office? You may think that sounds crazy. But in today’s post of our dental health blog, we will reveal why it’s not. We’re going to tell you just how we can help you relax during your dental appointment.
Overcoming Dental Anxiety in Our Comfortable Office
Millions of Americans suffer from some sort of dental anxiety or nervousness. This anxiety and fear has several root causes. Some people may have had a bad experience in the past at another dental office. Or maybe they’ve heard stories about negative dental experiences from their friends and family. But at Plymouth Dentistry, we strive to create a relaxing environment for your dentist appointment.
We promise not to lecture you, no matter how long it has been since you visited the dentist. We want our patients to come in and receive the treatment they need, not avoid our office for fear of being lectured. We work with all of our patients to create a personalized treatment plan; we are extremely flexible because we know that every patient has different needs and desires.
Our office is small and cozy. We’ve filled it with comfortable amenities to help you get the most out of your appointment. We try and let our patients feel in control during their appointments; not only will we fully explain your procedure to you, but we also will go through and explain each step of the procedure before we perform it. We can even schedule longer appointments if you need; this slower and deliberate approach gives us more time to answer your questions and take breaks as you need them.
Sedation Dentistry Helps You Relax
We also offer sedation dentistry for patients who feel nervous or fearful. We offer two different types of sedation dentistry: nitrous oxide sedation and oral sedation. Nitrous oxide sedation is often called “laughing gas.” Nitrous oxide is so safe and effective that the World Health Organization has called it one of the most important tools in all of medicine.
Nitrous oxide sedation is inhaled through a small mask placed over your nose; during your procedure, you will breathe in a safe and effective mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen. You will feel completely calm and relaxed, but will never fall asleep and will be able to respond to directions from the doctor. Best of all, we offer this service completely complimentary during any of your dental procedures.
If you need a stronger form of sedation, we also offer oral sedation. With oral sedation, we prescribe you a medication to take before your procedure. You simply take the pill, then sit in our comfortable procedure chair. You just relax and before you know it, your work will be finished. You have relaxed while we have helped give you a beautiful new smile or restored your ability to chew.
