Cosmetic Bonding
Your smile says a lot about your personality, which is why our cosmetic dentist offers teeth bonding.
Unlike other dental procedures, cosmetic bonding is minimally invasive and can help you start smiling with confidence in as little as one appointment.
If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about your front teeth, schedule an appointment with our dental office in Plymouth, Michigan today.
What Is Cosmetic Bonding?
Cosmetic bonding uses a tooth-colored composite resin to help restore chipped, cracked, discolored, or decayed teeth.
First, our dentist will roughen the surface of your teeth before applying a conditioning liquid. This is done to help the composite resin stick to the surface of your teeth.
Our dentist will then mold the composite resin to rebuild your tooth. Once they’re satisfied with how the composite resin looks, they’ll use a special light or laser to harden the material and create a strong bond.
What’s the Difference Between Bonding and Veneers?
Dental bonding is less invasive than veneers but tends not to last as long. During the teeth bonding procedure, our cosmetic dentist doesn’t have to remove any tooth structure unless you have a cavity. If we were to place porcelain veneers on your teeth, we would have to remove a thin layer of enamel from the fronts of your teeth.
How Long Does Teeth Bonding Last?
How long cosmetic bonding lasts depends on your oral hygiene habits. We recommend not chewing ice cubes, hard candy, or other substances that can damage dental bonding. Also, be sure to continue scheduling oral examinations with our office so we can monitor the condition of your teeth bonding.
